Marla Verdugo started making art at a young age, whether it was photographing her little brother or parents' house, introducing herself to her mother's red lipstick and applying it to perfection at the age of 6, or wearing the biggest bows in her hair along with floral frocks dripping with lace and charm, she was always styling and creating in attempt to make the world a more interesting place.
- The vintage photographs were inspired by her rockabilly lifestyle, classic films, old time photographs and vintage pinup styles . Her love of styles of the past coupled with a keen eye and attention to detail is what allows her to create "true to the era" photographs that look like they come from days of nostalgia, but in reality were taken in the present times. The vintage photographs currently include ideas taken from the 1920s and well into the 1970s.
- The fashion photographs grew from moments of Marla's youth in which she remembers learning from her mother the art of pairing beaten up burgundy leather boots juxaposed against the frilliest dresses. Marla was an instant fashion addict and immediately began dressing up her barbie dolls in mismatchy clothing.
- The lifestyle photographs most simply stated developed from capturing life as she sees it.
